Software Installation - Synergy Manager User Manual - Installation section
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Synergy Manager software installation has been enhanced through the use
of Installshield installation software. This enhancement simplifies the
installation process and uses standard Microsoft Windows installation
conventions.

WARNING: Do not insert the USB Dongle key until application has been properly installed (Note 8).

\
-\
--\
---> Please read this section in its entirety before attempting installation.
--/
-/
/
1. First close all running programs (see Note 1).

2. Uninstall any previous versions of Synergy Manager including Monitor Only
versions before installing this new version. Previous versions of this software
are not compatible.

3. Insert the installation CD into the proper drive and navigate to drive root folder.
If necessary unzip program files into a temporary folder before proceeding to next step.

4. Run the Synergy Manager setup program (SynergyMan_Setup.exe) file from the run option
of the start menu.

5. Follow the installation instructions on the screen.

6. Insert the Synergy Manager USB Dongle Key in a USB port on the PC and start the Synergy Manager
from the Start Menu.

Notes:

1. Do not insert USB dongle key before Synergy Manager has been properly installed. If the USB Dongle key
is inserted before application has been properly installed, Microsoft Windows operating systems may unintentionally
assign the wrong software driver to the USB Dongle key. This will cause Synergy Manager not to recognize the USB dongle
even though it is inserted, and thus cause Synergy Manager to run in Monitor Mode Only. Please see
Known issuessection of the Synergy Manager User Manual Rev. Q (07/07/2006) for more information on this issue.

2. No other programs should be running during the installation.

3. The latest revision of the Synergy Manager User Manual can be found in the \Support folder
of the installation CD and can also be downloaded from the Tidal Engineering website (www.TidalEng.com).
Copy the Synergy Manager User Manual PDF file to the Synergy Manager installation folder for
proper displaying.

4. For Microsoft Windows 2000 users: If the Synergy Manager setup program warns that it is
about to replace a newer file with an older one, select the response that will cancel the installation
of the older version of the file, keeping the newer one.

5. For Microsoft Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, user must have
administrators privileges to install this software (Rev. 2.02 and up).

6. Adobe Acrobat reader software must be installed for Synergy Manager to properly display the user manual.
If Adobe Acrobat is not installed, copy AcroReader51_ENU.exe located in the \Support folder of CD to a
Temp folder; then with the run option of the start menu, execute the program (AcroReader51_ENU.exe). Then
follow the on screen setup instructions that appear.

7. During the install process it may be necessary for the setup program to reboot the PC to allow updated
files to be used during installation. This is normal and it is handled automatically by setup program,
just follow on screen instructions.

8. DCOM95.exe, DCOM98.exe and Acrobat Reader 5.1 can be found on the install CD in the
\Support folder. It is not necessary to manually install DCOM95.exe or DCOM98.exe as the Synergy Manager
setup.exe now installs these files automatically.

*The Watlow F4 can now utilize the Synergy-TCPIP communication method which utilizes
the Synergy488 module to provide ethernet TCP/IP connectivity.

*Corrected chamber window status messages when port disconnects abruptly. Chamber status
would indicate a Connecting state which was not correct. Synergy Manager now displays
the proper chamber state when a port disconnects abruptly or due to error.

*Corrected a problem whereby the same TCP IP address could not be used for a chamber that
had its controller changed. Synergy Manager now allows the utilizing of the edited chamber
TCP IP address if the controller has been changed and supports that communication method.

*Added command button on the events page of the VT5 and Synergy controllers to
Acknowledge all errors. This will allow errors that self clear to be removed from the
controllers error list. This button will not clear errors where the error condition still
persists, the cause of the error must be determined and rectified first. The button does
allow remote ACK of all errors at once, there by removing the need to manually ACK
the error at the controller which will allow the error to clear if the condition does.
